The tartan clad boys appealed to their homeland tonight as they sang a Bay City Rollers track named 'Shang A Lang'.
It was fun, the boys were very charismatic and it was full of energy. The vocals weren't amazing but people aren't voting for their singing skills.
The judges said:
Simon Cowell: I surrender. I don't think this has got anything to do with singing anymore. I have a prediction, I think this is your final week."
Sharon Osbourne: "You made everybody here very happy."

It was a great song sung by a couple of great lads who have fans outside of Scotland as well. It was great to see Brian smmiling and really enjoying himself tonight. The second performance was far better because the pressure was off and they were just enjoying themselves singing a song that they love.

Sorry but I have to disagree with you, I do not think they are great singers and i'm surprised they were not out weeks ago. But it takes all sorts to make a world and it would be a very boring place if we all liked the same music and agreed on everything.

Isn't it amazing that their final performance (after being voted out) was their best yet? The MacDonald Brothers showed that they're more charismatic than we suspected, and only prove it after the eviction.
Hell, good luck to them I say. Hopefully I'll get an interview with them on Monday!

It's a shame that didn't show that charisma from the beginning eh? I don't think they're great singers and it is probably right that they've gone, but as people, from what I've seen, I think I really do like them. Bless 'em.

Do you know something the McDonald Brothers not only gave a spirited performance, but they were good tonight, the audience were also taken. These guys should seriously have had proper mentoring.
They in fact were so good they didn't deserve to go home as I had expected another mundane perfomance.
I applaud them, why couldn't they have given performances like this from day one.
Instead they gave the viewer from the start of the show all those weeks ago something close to a hotel act.
Ray was the weakest this week and if it was based on performance it is Ray that should have gone.
So we now have three Ray, Ben and Leoona.

Hi Bubbles, I think they were a group where their personality grew on you and this showed in their repeat performance on Saturday, they were not brilliant singers but very likeable lads. Have not heard their version of "fields of gold" is it good?

Hello Bubbles, Enjoy yourself. You know I'm nearly certain that " Fields of Gold" is a song written and performed by Sting. The best versions of this song I have ever heard have come from Lesley Garrett the opera singer, and the best folk versions Eva Cassidy and the Irish girl in Girls Aloud. Just can't think of her name for a moment. MAUREEN AGEING TART.

I think Stings song was "Fields of Barley".
The Macs were nice lads but however nice they were they were never going to sell records in any numbers. Can't really see people wanting to walk round with the McDonald Bros 'Shangalang' on their MP3 players somehow!
They'd be a good act to have on telly new years eve though!

Hello Voice of Reason, You might be right either way its the same song, same tune. I actually like it. I have found it more curious though that sting wants to play 14th 15th and 16th century stringed instruments now as he nears the twilight years of his brilliant career. He has managed to do so really well and his next disc will have some very old music on it by comparison to his norm. I think itv for New Years Eve should find as many duos as possible for a night of fun and christmas festivities. Journey South could probably do equally well here also. MAUREEN AGEING TART

Sting wrote Fields of Gold, i think it was 1993 and he sings it beautifully himself ( now you're talking ).....as did the late Eva Cassidy but i didn't hear The MacDonalds sing it.....did i miss it??? I must have nodded off again! Just had a thought....wouldn't that have been a good choice for Ben ?...Same sort of gravely voice ? BTW in the song the lyrics are : "You'll remember me when the west wind moves Upon the fields of barley You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky As we walk in the fields of gold"
