I thought we already had a thread suggesting possible replacements for Kate Thornton if the X Factor bosses don't renew her contract this year. But I can't find it.

Anyway, we're watching the American Idol show on ITV2, and Cat Deeley is presenting. I don't know why I hadn't thought of it before, Cat's done the live presenting gigs before (CD:UK) and talent shows (Stars In Their Eyes), plus she's a bit more natural than Kate and a bit nicer.

Well?

Hello Brad,

You know I've seen Cat Deeley live in London last year when she presented the acts for the 30th Anniversary of the Princes Youth Trust concert at Tower Bridge. She is lovely, has very clear speach, a bubbly personality, always has a smile and a real and genuine friendly rapor with the audience. If she was offered the chance to host the X factor or any talent show, than I must say it - she'd be absolutely fabulous at it. Fantastic, and the show would immediately be forced to upgrade itself as this is one of todays trendy and classy presenters.

I also think if they were replacing judges Pete Waterman should be asked.

Totally agree with both choices and Brad Cat Deeley would be a lot nicer viewing as well.

I think Pete Waterman has sworn off these type of shows, a comment I think I heard on a documentary a while back.

Aparently Foxy would like back in though. He claims they were all set for a series of celebrity pop idol last year when at the last minute it was changed to celebrity x factor.

I quite like Neil Foz and think he would be a good replacement for Louis.

Hello Tabbykat,

I think Neil Fox or Dr Fox as he likes to call himself would love to be back in the judges chair. He sees himself as having a truly valid opinion being a radio DJ.

The only problem I have with foxy is his recently expressed attitude in a music industry magazine that quoted him as saying the music business was for the young and if you hadn't entered it or succeeded by the age of 25 you were not likely to do so.  Hence, I seriously think Neil would be biased and show preference towards those below the age of 25. On a show like the X factor which now has an open age of application this would not be good news.

Pete Waterman would be a good judge, he has a great ear for music and those who are truly talented - in fact he has been a judge for a national and international choir competition, something I've been meaning to blog about of late. I do think Pete thinks the show needs a big make over to improve it, especially the initial audition stages and I also think he'd like the show to go out truly 'live' with those lesser spotted musicians who are somewhat of a rarity in the age of the compact disc.
