The X Factor debate is raging! OFCOM are investigating claims that there was some sort of phone problem, or fix and many Welsh radio stations have banned Leon's single from being played.

Do you like the song? Do you think Leon was a worthy winner? Let me know, I'm sure you all have your views!

I'm a Scot too but I loved Rhydian and tried to vote for him.  I tried 14 times and each time line was busy, my friend tried Leon at same time and had no problem whatsoever. so I can undersatnd there were some serious problems.  I know of at least 6 other people who gave up because they couldn't get through for Rhydian.  There should be enough lines open so there are no engaged tones.  If too many people were ringing to vote for Rhydian at one time, then that speaks volumes, doesn't it?

It's all very fishy and it reminds me of what happened in Pop Idol with Will Young beating Gareth Gates as the phonelines for Gates were jammed- the difference there of course being that the difference in ability wasn't so obvious.

It's just a shame that there's probably not much they can do about it now- afterall Leon's already released his single on iTunes so I'm guessing it's too late to recall the single and replace it with Rhydian's version, even if they admitted they should right now.

The only thing I can see them doing is offering Rhydian a contract as well- which I expect Simon would have done anyway (He'd be bonkers not to!) although it'd be interesting to see if Rhydian got a Million Pound contract as well because of the problem.

I don't think we should just be talking about Rhydian and Leon here - some people had problems voting for Same Difference as well.
And as I live in Scotland and get up early to go to school I listen to the early morning radio, and, as it happens there were people talking about Leon - because I am in Scotland! Anyway some woman came on saying she voted for Leon 129 times! So if she can get through that many times along with thousands of other people at the same time, surely there should have been no problem counting Same Difference's and Rhydian's votes too.
I am just appalled that Leon won. COnstantly hitting bum notes and standing on stage looking like you've peed yourself isn't the x factor to me.

To be honest I am in Wales and although I did not want Leon to win I was appauled to hear that his single was not to be played (woke me up on Monday morning).  Poor guy.  Whatever happened, at the the moment we all must assume he won fair and square so therefore this is unfair to him.  If it is proved different then the powers that be will suffer, but it is not up to us to punish an innocent man!

I did wonder if SD might also have ha the same problem as well, but as I wasn't able to watch the final when it came out I wasn't able to try to vote so didn't know if there were any problems- thanks for mentioning scains!

I agree with you Ginni, no one deserves to be told they have won and that they can now release a top selling single only to then be tod that it was all a bit of a muck up and that they shouldn't have and that no one should buy said single- it must be worse than just coming in second or third would be. Radio stations shold treat his single like they would treat any other single and let people buy and/or request it on it's own merit.

Hello everyone,

Well i managed to vote for Rhydian OK.

But you know I Seem to think that similar accusations of a fix have been levied in former years.  Also when we jokingly say oh lets have a breakdown in communications somewhere in say Scotland or Wales we really don't mean it, as most of us like to think of people winning fair and square and the proportion of that difference whether it be 1 or 100 or 1.000.00 votes still means in my account book that Leon won.

However if the phone was on repeat call 50 to 100 times in a household for any contestant than maybe the nature of the win is not so great. So I'd like to see a a new restriction brought in place that only allows three or four votes from one phone landline or mobile phone, but sadly this will not be brought in as the phone vote is a massive revenue raiser.

If it pleases any Rhydian fans to cheer up a little, I have good news. Rhydian is to get a record deal from BMG and at least one other company is lined up...probably a subsidiary of BMG or another major company under the BMG umbrella for foreign work.  On top of that LOUIS WALSH did drop the bait when suggesting to Rhydian that he should ignore calls from ALW this week, however it must be expressed that once the recording work is done Rhydian will be considered for the Role of Phantom of the Opera when it is re-cast in 2009.

For Rhydian this means he has nw got the career he has always longed for and who knows maybe his career will be longer than Leons.

I'd still like him to dye his hair the Mozart look is not quite the fashion for today.

Todays papers have a article from telecom saying that the problem could have been the lines were overloaded and then the way the technology is done that the lower numbers get through first and Leon was 2 and Rhydian was 3 and this could have been the cause of the problem why Rhydian voters did not get through as the lowers numbers were picked up first. This is only what the papers are saying, really it does not matter now the decisdion has been made and cannot be changed and ITV are not going to admit to getting it wrong. What needs to happen is a complete investigation on the procedure of phone voting and how it works so that things like this cannot happen again next year. Viewers need to get their trust back in phone votes or reality programmes are going to suffer. What I would also like to see is a system where you can only vote once for a person per phone so you get a more realistic vote instead of one where a person has lots of family etc who vote over and over again for the same person as this does not mean they are the best singer. Can't see this happening as the programme makers would lose money but you would get a better result. Anyway its all done and I say good luck to all the finalists.

I would like to say that we had problems getting through to vote for Leon as well, but common sense tolds us that it was just too many people trying at the same time. I think its very extreme to ban Leon's song from being played, when he himself has done nothing wrong. What is going to be achieved by that? It's not going to change the result, just make it look childish. I wish Leon and Rhydian the best of luck for the future.

To be honest I do not think that by not playing it on radio stations will make any difference. The people who will be buying it are those that voted for him on the X-Factor so they have already heard it. All this is doing is getting more publicity for the programme and Leon and that could work in his favour.

I loved Rhyd. I really did. I didnt vote myself. But Leon seems a really genuine and amazing guy. And as much as I loved Rhyd. They both deserved it. Hasnt Rhyd got a deal now anyway? So whats the big fuss about? Rhyd says he wants to put it behind him, so why arent you letting him? Leons the winner and thats it. Its time to face reality. xx
