Well Saz i have to agree with you....i was willing her on when she was way down there with the low notes.
I like Leona very much and i'm sort of convinced she's going to win , i really don't like the lip quiver thingy either.....ooooer what's all that about? Can't she sing without doing it? Is it an "in thing"? to do

I do think she has gained a bit of confidence over the last couple of weeks , she actually looks into the camera.....at last ....and also seems to be a little bit more relaxed.
And it would be really boring if we all liked the same thing....lets face it...there would be no competition would there?

Hello aqualitystreet,
Lip quiver thingy...
There are several reasons why the lips will quiver
the first, due to an uneven flow of air and a wrongly placed note causes a nervous reaction in the lip muscle and nerves...
two, the voice is weak in a certain voice register maybe the notes aren't really there and the lips cannot help but quiver with vibrato at the effort....
three, an excess force of air and a wrongly placed note with vowel pushing on the lip muscle and nerve tickling it...
four, the number of notes and the flow of air is insufficient to finish the line of music, the voice consciously takes what it needs and divides the air up breaking the flow of sound thus resulting in lip quivering with a few notes to go with it not belonging to the key of the piece.
The latter I have noticed has been very popular with pop singers, jazz singers, blues singers and soul singers who seem to think it is the done thing to do.So much so if you were really listening the end of lines is often flat.
In classical music performers, all of the above would be regarded as a vocal fault, as all notes which are for singing must be what is printed. The bridge passages of runs or ornamentations for classical singers are all printed where the composer wants them and each note is allocated a time segment within the pace of the music. However, as a Mozart fan I enjoy listening to singers who often deviate from a printed Coda and improvise one of there own.
A singer who can sing Mozart, it used to be said could sing anything.
