Ofcom are to investigate a new babe channel which will launch this November on Freeview. Viewers will be able to talk to the babes on sexy subjects and Ofcom fear this could lead to unsuitable chat. They have had this sort of thing on Sky for years but this could reach a mass audience on a free- to- air channel.

Do freeview viewers have parental control the same as Sky and Virgin Media otherwise this could be really bad with young teenagers being so impressionable.

Yes they do but Freeview boxes are so cheap they can go out and buy another box.

Do they not already have a similar channel? In fact there are two or three. Two that spring to mind are Babestation and Smile. Both are only actually on air very late at night/at stupid o'clock in the morning, and both involve calling premium rate numbers.

And you do not think parents would notice a different box in their bedroom Plus I doubt if they would be that fussed to spend about £30 of their money plus phone costs, they'd rather by alcohol.

That's a little unfair, Trudy - don't you think? All teenagers don't spend all their money on booze and fags, especially nowadays with the new age limits etc. I mean, I just turned 28 and I can't walk out of a supermarket with a bottle and 20 cigs without being carded - it must be even harder for a teenager to do. Also, they can't always find an adult who's willing to buy for them, even if they do have the money there to pay for it. If we were talking about grown-ups, then that is exactly who these channels are aimed at - drunk men who have just fallen in from the pub having not-pulled. It's big business - someone has to do it I suppose. The phonelines and texts have been going forever - this is just one step too far.

these are on sky already and i know for a fact that they are not introducing any new ones from there and these sites are already on the internet, well live streams of them are, I would post links to them, but I won't. At the end of the day it's not really a problem as if you don't want to watch something don't watch it.

I noticed with the channels that they only start showing at 1AM in the morning, what kid is going to be up at that time, teenagers maybe, but I would be more worried about the internet, and after doing some digging about they channels check you are over 18.

I didn't mean getting drunk but enjoying a drink. In Scotland they seem to be very strict, in North London it is very easy for teenagers to buy drink there are always articles in the local paper that various shops have been fined for selling underage, they should be banned from having an alcohol license if they continually do it. The only places that seem to ask for prove of age is big supermarkets like Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's etc , other shops, off licenses do not worry.

It's the same here - it's the big Supermarkets that have this challeng25 thing. For some reason, I don't think it applies to the smaller shops/off licences - I've never seen the sign up in any of those. I think those are still 21+.

TMTV have just launched their new service on Freeview. From 3am till mid-morning Tease Me TV show Bang Babes and Early Bird, where a scantily clad babe lying on a mattress and moving provocatively, invites viewers to call her and her friends for an adult chat on a premium number. Surely this is inappropriate on a free-to-air service.

Apparently TMTV2 will launch on Freeview in November from midnight till dawn. Might as well re-name this service Pornview. When are we to get some new family programmes instead of all this tottie?

LYsander no one cares, and they are night. I would be more worried about the one's on the interenet which are 24/7. They are already on sky so it can be causing any problems.

So they have a couple of these channels and they've to change it's name to porn view? Ridiculous.Freeview has many family friendly TV channels. They have a wide range of channels with something for everyone. I don't have freeview but I'm sure these channels are not mixed in with the regular channels - Sky has them away at 800 or 900... It's on at night and I'm sure Freeview has a parental control feature. And if you don't want to watch it then don't. To be honest: At least it has it's own channel - at least then you have even more *choice* as to whether to view it or not - it's not like it's on a channel that your watching taking time out of that channels particular schedule. In conclusion, choice, is the key word.
