Tabby was telling me this evening that X Factor and Strictly Come Dancing are running pretty close in the ratings war. BBCs reality television shows actually seem to do quite well in the ratings, although shows like X Factor are plastered across the tabloids every day of the week. I'm wondering which shows you guys prefer....

I'd have to go for the x afctor, but I do really enjoy Strictly Come Dancing. Its so annoying that they air at the same time, why not spread the shows out and allow us to have a whole nights worth of great viewing?

Ok. I will probably be the odd one out. I have voted strictly come dancing. I have voted for this programme on grounds of quality and the most definite display of skill from at east one partner in each couple. I also feel that the depth tutoring is more dedicated.
I do like the X factor, I tend to catch up on this on a Sunday, but I would rather trust a 'real singing professional singing teacher or teachers' as mentors than three people for judges who are the winners everytime, whether or not they achieve a million selling and more recording artist from there mediocre efforts.
The biggest achievement this programme can boast is the week in week out marketing and promotion of people who in the real world would never get this kind of head start and then sadly once awinner has been decided it falls apart. As votes don't correlate to sales and eventually from having had such a brilliant start there careers have ended before they've really begun a few months down the line. I suppose one could term it as non sustainable.

I am gonna play safe I cant decide between the two, and so I tape Strictly come dancing and watch the X factor. If I had to watch one of them, X Factor would win hands down each time. I am a true fan, and get very wound up when one of my favourites gets the boot! I am still upset that Journey South didnt win last year They wus robbed <g>. And anyway,Saturday nights would not be the same if I didnt have my Simon Cowell fix?

Obviously, I opted for Strictly. But I know a lot of folks who watch one and tape the other, although most tape SCD.
SCD has a bigger audiencce in volume terms, but it's The X Factor which attracts younger viewers. That's fine, becuase it's ITV1 that needs advertisers, who like young audiences. If XF's audience was as old as SCD's, ITV1 would be in big trouble!

I hadn't thought of it like that Loulabelle. How true.
I know that Mica left this week, but who else was in the bottom two?

Georgina and James were in the bottom two. They had a lower score with the judges, but I think they might have picked up some sympathy votes, after the way James has been treating her.

what has James been doing?

There have been lots of rows and walk-outs between the pair. And there was Malteasergate. James confiscated Georgina's Malteasers, saying that to be a dancer, she could do with losing a few lbs.

If I was her I would demand a new partner. I'm sure Mica's partner would be only too happy to return.

I voted X-Factor as it is a bit more addictive, if the two programmes were not run at the same time I would watch both.

I loved the dancing final...although i think there should have been three couples as with the X Factor there should be 3 in the final.....it just seems to make it appear a fairer final. I got very fed up with X Factor this year , and although i hadn't watched the dancing from the beginning i soon got engrossed and my husband said he'd have rather watched the dancing instead of X Factor. So i vote for the dancing!.I only hope common sense prevails next time and the whole X Factor set up is revised . I think if this is not the case... no... i know! we will definitely watch the dancing all the way through! And BTW we LOVED Karen and Mark and were rooting for them from when we joined the other people who preferred the dancing..........we were so pleased Emma Bunton got knocked out!....Aren't we awful??? Nah!!!!

Yes, glad to see MArk and Karen pull it off. But the final was a bit one-sided. There was no way Matt and Lilia were actually going to win, was there?
I would like to have seen Louisa get to the final. I really warmed to her in the end. She should have stayed when Emma went.
