The Bionic Woman is due to kick off on ITV2 tonight.

Anyone planning to watch it?

Yes please missus. I saw a clip of the show on Jonathan Ross on Friday, and it looks pretty good. I have serious doubts about Michelle Ryan's ability to carry a series as big as this, so I'm going in with a cynical head on. She's a beautiful girl, but her biggest acting credit prior to this was Eastenders - is that enough experience to play a lead role in a major American series?

And considering that the show's already been cancelled in the States, my feeling is it might not be as wonderful as we're being led to believe. Let's see how it goes, eh?

The critics were not very complimentary about it in America so not sure. Will probably watch it as Michelle Ryan was at my daughters school so curious as to how well she has done.

The first episode is almost over and so far I think it's pretty good. I don't trust the American critics too much as they also cancelled Journeyman and it is fab!

I don't think the writers strike helped this show, as new epsiodes couldn't be produced.

Tabby, I totally agree with you. Journeyman was a GREAT show. Why did they cancel it? I have no idea. Dumb move. The writers strike screwed a lot of things up, and I think that was a portion of the reason. Same thing for Bionic Woman. BW, is a great show also, but it did seem to drag along in bits. When I'm watching a show, and watching the  clock to see how much time is left, that's not a good sign. Still, I watched the entire series and it had it moments. I will say this, I never like what critics say, and the show (at the end of the day) had TONS of potential.

Is it even clear that Bionic Woman has definitely been cancelled?

Man, watching it last night it was great fun. I'm really warming to Michelle Ryan, who's playing the part exceptionally well. There was a fair bit of humour in last night's episode (with the dial tone in her head and the engineer trying to fix it). And I'm starting to like the character of Jonas - he was a bit of a cold fish in the first episode, but he also had a bit of humour last night too.

It hasn't DEFINITELY been cancelled, but it looks likely...

I watched it for the first time last night and, like you Gerard, I was very sceptical. Michelle Ryan did a fab job, right down to her very believable American accent. My favourite part was when she was training - doing pull-ups one handed with her bionic arm. I've never laughed so hard in my life. "Yeah, right!" I thought, "She's on a wire and they've airburshed out her harness!" Anyone know exactly how it was done?

Yeah, that was good. You can't beat a good training scene, can you?

Did you see the bit where she was fighting the soldier in the shop and he kept hitting her on the parts that *weren't* bionic? It kept going through my mind that he might know about her abilities and might also be bionic himself.

I was a bit surprised that she was able to fight the other bionic woman so well in the first episode, yet she was pretty lame at fighting in this one.

Oh, no, the soldier was DEFINITELY bionic. Did you hear the tinny noise when she chinned him? It would stand to reason then that he would know she was bionic too. Also, the reason he was so much better in combat than she was is that not only his he a bionic man, he's a bionic MILITARY MAN. I think as we go further on in the series we are going to find out that there are bionic people all over the place.

Wow! I just saw this box-set in the store yesterday. And we were just talking about it. I may pick it up and rewatch it. I think I missed a few shows, so some things didn't end up making sense to me.

As far as I recall though, the final episode left it open, for it to return, but would have ended the series if it came to that. 10 pounds for the set. NICE!

That's all - £10??? Doesn't sound like anyone's holding out much hope for it, then.
