There is no application form for Nancy. You just turn up on the day and wait, I think. There is a number to phone -catch it off the advert next time its broadcast on BBC1.
As for the girls who were worried about size for the role - Dont be! Nancy is the kind of girl who could be played by anyone - you just need to act and have a beautiful voice to carry off the ballad 'As Long As He Needs Me', which is a gorgeous song!! I was wondered about not being able to belt, but Nancy doesnt necessarily have to belt. She just has to sing!
Whats everyone singing for their auditions? xx

well, a little googling has brought me here. i'm vaguely considering auditioning for this... I'm a Primary school teacher, so am chuffed to see the first few auditions are weekends and half term dates... debating whether or not I have the nerve to go though! I know 'theoretically' I'm not past it, but at 26 I'm wondering if I'd be amongst the 'oldies'?! I'm drawn to Nancy as I haven't come across too many juicy alto parts in the world of musicals... I'm not a "the hills are aliiiiiive" kinda gal. I'm in Derbyshire so woud be heading either Manchester or London-wards... if I get up the guts!!

I'm going to have a go too! I was at Drama School in London but am living in Ireland at the moment and I'm going to the Belfast call, Yes Nancy is a great part! shes a really strong character and has some really strong emotive numbers. I take it you need to send no form for Nancy, I have kept checking the website for one but they don't seem to have added one?? Good Luck to those auditioning!! x :

At a guess i would say. As long as he needs me for Nancy as that is the most taxing song for her, and possibly 'Where is love' for Oliver. However there are no guarantees, just make sure you are familiar with them all. They may even throw in something completely unrelated. It says prepare two songs of your own choice as well so my sons are going with one musical theatre and a ballad of some description to show versatility if they get to sing them. Good luck to all

Hi Guys! I joined this forum in the run up to my audition for Joseph. Judging by the format, etc of the applictaion forms it looks like its a similar production company who are making this show. when I went for Joseph we were given "Any dream will do" and "close every door" to sing for the panel- around 16 bars of music. I would suggest therefore, that they may use "as long as he needs me" and "fine life" as the unseen pieces. Hope thats useful.. If I can be of any help please let me know. Cheers!!

Hi all
My boy isnt going for the auditions, but it has pushed me into getting singing lessons for him. He looks like an Oliver and has a good voice, but with no training it would be unfair on him to try and get knocked back. Sally has trained her boys for years so I backing them!! Go Boys!!!!!!!!!!!!! But thanks BBC you may have done us a big big favour.

Thanks Sally and Stuart! Good to get a bit of insight into someone whose been there with the same production set up. 16 bars eh? oh god I hate it when they do that gives you very little time to shine! Was it David Grindrod who did the casting? Did you get to sing both songs or just pick one? Thanks again Guys!

So what do people think about the audition process? I.e. is this type of show different than the likes of X Factor, Grease and Britain's Got Talent??
For instance, I auditioned last year for all three of them, and it upset me to know that the casting directors were choosing people to go onto the panel who were clearly not right for the show however were being used for entertainment and the ''laugh factor''. I am a trained singer and isn't much of a confidence booster to see this happening. I once saw an interview with ALW and he was saying, he is producing these television shows to find the next star of the west end, he is not there to laugh at people, mock and humiliate them. I only ever watched the live shows of Maria and Joseph, did anyone see the auditions?? What were they like??

The auditions looked ok - much less cringey and looked much more professional and organised than X-factor ones.
There is a form on the BBC website now for Nancy auditions. I've just emailed mine for Manchester on the Sunday. Whether I get there or not is another matter, but I'm keeping my fingers x'd. Song-wise, I haven't a clue! I was toying with applying for the X-Factor, so thought of some songs for that, like Son of a Preacher Man, Breathless, Rotterdam. For the musical theatre number I'm currently listening to all my musical style compilations looking for inspiration!
Anyone else there on the 27th in Manchester? x

hi i auditoned for all three last year got thru to the later stages of grease and the final 120 of britains got talent, xfactor didnt get thru at all think its all about luck and what story you had i was only 17 last year so producers said i was a bit young for grease at the 3rd audition but i think all comps and auditions are and experience and you should learn from each one, goood luck see you in manchester

Thankyou Stephiep and Starshadow!
I have just filled my application form off for manchester on the saturday. I tell you what, if I didn't check this regularly I would have never have known that they have just made and application form. (By the way, how did you e-mail the form if you have to sign it at the bottom??)
I am still wondering on what to sing... it is very difficult as there are soo many I could choose and need to find one that shows my voice to its very best. What is everyone else planning on singing??? But i'm sure by next week me and my vocal coach can work together and choose something great =]

Re signing it, I just typed my name. They'll know you can't physically sign it if submitting electronically. Unless you print it off, sign it, then scan it in and email it, but then you might as well just post it... If I get to the audition, I'll take another copy with me just in case.
