'I'm gonna rouge my knees and pull my stockings down' it's a dirty song ha ha ha, the filthier the better Grin what is your natural accent star? I have the opposite problem, I worry that my cockney accent is too over the top!

Well, I have a north east accent, but I'm not terribly broad with it. When away from friends & family, I'm fairly neutral really, but I pick up some accents really quickly without realising it, particularly Yorkshire ones, which is a little strange... I don't think you could be 'too' cockney for Nancy though!  Wink

Hi glitterjunkie.  I think it was just luck.  Possibly they've changed the process because of the numbers involved.  However, she was in and out so quickly this morning that she didn't find out from other people whether the same thing had happened to others.  However it was unnerving as round 1 is kind of good practice and confidence building before meeting the big boys.  So going straight in to them was scary.

Oompa pa was 'in' in Belfast and 'in' in Manchester, 'out' today in London but could come back in again, who knows!  They keep changing things.  However I'm not really sure that Oompa really shows off acting skill that well as it's more like an entertaining people type song than a character acting song.

Hi there twinkletoes - again  Cheesy

There are cameras working on the queues outside and also cameras there for people who get into round 2.

If you get through round 1 (which isn't filmed) you would be interviewed by in-yer-face camera people looking for newsy things, then filmed during the audition and then filmed after it.  They even followed someone who was upset into the toilet after they'd been turned down after round 2, but they are not part of the audition process so you don't have to answer their question in as much detail as they want though you do have to sign to say that you don't mind being filmed.

I heard one girl sharing some personal family stuff while being filmed before her round 2 audition.  She had brought her mum with her.  When she went into her round 2 audition, the camera folk started to interview the mum.  So be prepared!

People who got through were filmed making their good news phone calls to parents and boyfriends, etc.

To answer the question that started this thread - NO you can't, not any more.  The bbc website clearly states that no-one may now go this weekend who hasn't pre-registered.

But they are thinking about putting more auditions on.

Please help!!  A friend of mine is taking her son to Glasgow auditions on Wednesday.  She sent back the forms, but hasn't heard anything.  Did other people hear back?  I am worried in case the lad isn't registered.

TROLL:  Some heard.  Some didn't.

My advice would be to go anyway and get there really early - like 7:30 am latest.  Then, registered or not, he'll be seen and although it's an early start, the nearer the front of the queue you are, the quicker the overall process.  They've only stopped the non registered applicants at the London auditions.

Hi there, I have just read on the website that anyone who hasn't registered cannot attend this weekend now, but I think they have extended audition days coming up. Keep checking the website out for up to date details. I went along today and did not get through. It was a good experience but the standard is very high. I belted out its a fine life and had a little joke with the judges trying to portray my personality. They picked one girl out of our group, I was tempted to go back tomorrow as I felt the song I did was too Character based and I should have tryed to portray emotion. I didn't have to wait that long as I was registered but I don't know what would happen if I was to go Tomorrow.

Hi,

I didn't audition but my daughter did, so I thought I'd share our experience in case it's helpful.

We did pre-register (they would have got the form 22/1) but we didn't get a call.  We queued at 6.15 (no signs to say where to queue).  For those that get there that early, basically it's outside the main doors to the hotel (they don't put the rails up or roll out security until 7am) so some of us had started queueing inside without realising it was wrong and then got moved outside!

When it came to checking names off against their sheet, out of about 15 of us, it seemed that they only had the details of one person!  Pretty darned frustrating! Thankfully because we were 10th in line they said it wouldn't be a problem and we could register inside and I gather they let in the first 20 or so, I don't know if they let in others after that.  So if you can prove you sent it off, provide the proof!  They let us inside at around 7.45 or 8.

Yes they filmed the audition queue but not stage 1.

When it comes to stage 2, they do a little research interview to find out if you have a good story and then they film those peopleat length, asking lots of questions to camera.  My daughter did not get filmed at this point (at 17 she probably did not make a desperately interesting story) - they said they don't have time to film everyone so they cherry pick by going through the forms without you realising.

At stage 1 my daughter got told to change her songs (for stage 2) as they weren't well known or belty enough.  Lots of filming for the 2nd stage, including her singing as she walked along the corridor.  In her case DG could tell that her heart lay in pop rather than West End (true, she was really only there because I told her it would be a good experience!) but it's not what she wants to do.  He said that pop and West End do not crossover and he can recognise it a mile off - pop is certainly what she is most suited to and what she wants to have a career in.  He told her to choose one or the other.  He said he hadn't seen many 17 year olds, so she had done really well to get that far and she also got plenty of food for thought.  She didn't enjoy the audition process but not because it was unpleasant as such, more because it's just not her thing.  Most of the Nancy's there really really wanted it which is exactly what you need to be successful.

We finally finished about 1pm and she was the first group to be seen at 9.  The queue when we left was enormous.

After being there a couple of hours there was still only about 15 or so Nancy's in the holding area for Stage 2 so the standard is UBER high.  My daughter said they rejected some AWESOME singers.
The ones in the holding area at the same time were a mix of ages, a few were Mums and they were all shapes and sizes, hair colours etc.

So my advice, if you didn't hear back from sending in your form, get there mega early and start queuing outside the front door (Nancy's to the right, Oliver's to the left).  If you haven't already registered pretend that you have as if you are there early enough I would have thought they would see you.  We genuinely sent our form in but I hadn't taken a copy and got proof of posting, doh!  Prepare real belty songs that are well known.  Have a good think about why you would make a good Nancy (this is part of the questioning in the holding area for Stage 2) how will it change your life, what life experiences can you draw upon etc etc..  Have lots of back-up songs in case they tell you not to sing the ones you've prepared.

I very much doubt that they will use much of the footage that was taken so I wouldn't let the cameras put you off.  I'm sure the majority will go on the cutting room floor!

All the Nancy's were really, really nice - it was a great atmosphere and everyone was really supportive.

Good luck everyone going tomorrow, I don't know how any of you have to courage to do it, I admire each and every one of you - oh and I'm dead jealous at how good you all are at singing, what a fabulous gift!

I have choosen my songs for stage 2 if I am luckly enough.... but its the first one they ask for? so can anyone help me? My first song is great from greasy - there are worst things I could do.... my second is dont' make my brown eyes blue, which again is good but my voice it seems is deep! which take it from me a first I didn't know that I could sing!!! very funny!
Next do you really think that they will put new dates on in london?? or they will come to cardif or Bristol? help. oh

Hi lillylambchops

Round 1 you sing one of Nancy's songs.  Untill this weekend it was a choice between either Oompa-pa or As Long As ...  This weekend, Oompa-pa wasn't used, but It's a Fine Life was.

The two contemporary songs are really for round 2.  However my daughter was asked to sing one of them in round 1.

Basically go prepared to sing all of them!  And the most important thing is not how sweet or trained your voice is.  They are looking for an ACTOR who when she sings, brings the song to life - even Don't It Make My Brown Eyes Blue!  So if you get to sing that, think about the story of it and sing it as if it's a spoken monologue, but with a singing voice.  Hope that makes sense.  I know what I mean. Hope you do too!
