hi every1 im new to this, its really helpful.
i hope ppl will be able to help me?
does any1 know if u can just turn up to the nancy audition say on sun 3rd feb, will u b seen if u go reasonably early?
i havent registered or filled in a form? to be honest im in 2 minds about going im currently iiiiiill with cold, i feel pretty bad, so i want to go, and not let the opportunity pass but im really not well enough even to go out, i dont know, but i was wondering:-
the one thing that puts me off going on these shows is the cameras, at the auditions, if they werent filmed id definately go, but the though of being seen on tv and being unsuccessful, having every1 who knows you/used 2 know u seeing u fail makes me feel sick - thats why i never go in for these things.
i wish id gone for maria thing. i know im never gonna get anywhere if i dont go to these things, its a long shot, but if u dont try...i used 2 go 2 open auditions in west end, i used 2 queue for 6 hrs+ to be seen for 1 minute never to get anywhere it really shatters your confidence
i regret so much not going for sandy in grease is the word. i got the part of sandy in grease when i was studying musical theatre at drama school my mum and dad were so proud they cried, i had to fight for it, cos there was this girl, you know the girl who always gets everything, she was blonde and thin and used her looks to flirt with all the male tutors she always got the main parts even though she couldnt sing or dance. ppl were pleased to see that i won the part.
it was the proudest/happiest time of my life. it was the 1st time in my life that id ever got something like that. now after graduating a year ago its really so hard to get anywhere.
i would love to hear back from anyone
thanx

I'm sorry to say this but the website www.bbc.co.uk/oliver are now warning people who haven't pre registered not to turn up as there will be no time. They are hoping to add further audition dates, though, so hopefully you can go another time. Good Luck!

Twinkle toes, I'm there on Sunday as wel!! I have registered though and I'm still getting there for 7:30am, I think they will probably ask you when you get in if you have registered or not and I'm afraid that they may make you wait until all the registered people have been seen befor allowing you to audition (hopefully not). That said that, the earlier you get there the earlier you will be seen. The camera's are off putting definately I can empathise with you there, I have only told my boyfriend that I'm doing the audition as I couldn't bear the shame of telling everyone and then not even getting past round 1 but now I realise I may be cought on camera anyway! I think the best thing is to try to ignore the cameras easier said than done but you don't want to let it potentialy affect your performance! I would have loved to go to theatre school but story shows that even if you have been trained it is still damn hard to break into this business. The competition is so stiff. I'm sure that you have a fabulous voice and all you have to do is go there, do your best performance and then you can hold your head up and say I did my best, no matter what the outcome. It may be a great door opener with the casting agents if nothing else. Good luck and I'm sure you will knock their socks off x x

Oh my goodness, I'm shocked! They have just changed the rules of entry so late in the process, I do think that this is unfair, what they are saying now is what they should have said from the start. I'm pretty certain that they will be forced to do extra dates and am shocked that the BBC could be so disorganised! twinkletoes keep checking the website as often as you can so that you can pre-register as soon as the dates are announced

I agree glitterjunkie, it is really unfair to change so late on -especially when some people will (like me) have booked train tickets etc and may not have had chance to check the website today! I'm still praying that I am pre-registered. I'm going to take along a print out of the email I sent and a copy of my form to show them that I did send it! Perhaps everyone else should try that, just in case. I don't know, though!! I'm scared!

Sunshine, don't worry, faced with that proof they would have to be incredibly hard hearted to not to let you audition!

I'll be annoyed if the cities are any different... I'm sure it won't be though - will probably be just for London. Although since there was a cut-off date on the original form, why didn't they just stick with that, rather than extending the deadline for London for pre-registered auditionees? Very odd... I'm still shocked they've done this at such a late stage though!

Couldn't sgree more star, it's a disgrace, I hope that no one is left out of pocket because of this, strangely although I have pre-registered I feel upset on behalf of those who haven't. It's probably because everyone on here is being so suppotive of each other, I have to say that it is surprising but really lovely

Yes just go along unregistered! My daughter did this morning. She arrived just after 6:30 am, was in the building by 8:30 am and unforltunately out again by 10:30 am If you go much later, you'll wait hours. It is different from previous auditions. She registered for the audition last week and got to round 2. This time she was sent straight in to sing in front of David Grindrod and Cameron Mackintosh and sadly, once again didn't get to stage 3. But at least she tried again which I admire her for. Oompa pa is bombed out! So make sure you know Nancy's other songs.

We're like one big happy wanting-to-be-Nancy family! I'm a little concerned with Glasgow now, but with the fiasco in London, I doubt I'll hear anything. Good job I've kept my emails! And I was looking forward to doing Oom Pa Pa!

And I was looking forward to doing Oom Pa Pa! I have been preparing "it's a fine life" for weeks but saw this site yesterday so was practising "oom pah pah" last night. I had grown quite fond of it and am surprisingly disappointed we can't sing it, now! Although it is making me nervous as I was hoping to sing whichever Nancy song I didn't sing in round 1 if I get through to round 2. My other option is "All that Jazz" but, as someone else pointed out, it has quite a few "gaps" in it, which does sound a little odd when singing acapella! PS. Did anyone "dance"? Some of the songs seems to lend themselves to wanting to move to them. I don't want to look stupid but also standing there with my hands by my sides seems a bit ridiculous. Did anyone do hand movements? Does anyone have any tips on what the casting agents may have said in relation to a bit of characterisation and movement? (I don't mean a choreographed dance routine or anything, by the way!)

a-mac, how come she went straight to stage 2? Was it because, they knew that she had auditioned already and was good or just through luck?? Very intriguing!
Sunshine, if I do all that jazz it's hard not to do some movement, not a full on dance as such but definately some movement. Someone said earlier that the camera is pretty much dead centre and quite close to you so I don't think that there is much space to be dancing all over the place ha ha ha

oooh, good, thanks glitterjunkie. That was what I expected as it isn't a dance audition but standing like a plank isn't very appropriate for the song. I keep forgetting there are going to be cameras in my face! eek

I was practicing All That Jazz the other night, and got told I made it sound filthy! I know what you mean about the gaps though - I always want to shake my ass in the obvious ones before you sing '... and all that jazz! I'm gonna...' Love it!! My cockney accent's crap on IAFL though - help?!? Watching Eastenders hasn't helped!

Brilliant! re cockney accent -I youtube-d oliver songs and practised listening and singing along to songs on there to listen to accents. There are some good versions of Oliver songs that were performed on TV recently (I didn't see it -not sure when or what it was) but it's helped me, anyway... Good Luck x
