I think we've all seen a few Patrick Swayze movies over the years. Clearly Dirty Dancing will be the one he's best remembered for, but there was also Ghost and Point Break which he made.

I had a quick look on IMDB and discovered a few others that I've seen: Steel Dawn, Road House and one of my favourite action movies of that time, Next Of Kin.

So tell me, what are your favourite Swayze movies, and why?

Dirty Dancing and Ghost have to be my two favourites, but there are others - I will have to think about it and come back to you though.

To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything, Julie Newmar from 1995

It seemed impossible that a macho sex symbol like Patrick Swayze could portrait a woman convincingly; he could!

My fave would have to be Ghost, but seeing as it's already been mentioned, I thought I'd add Donnie Darko.  I know it technically wasn't a 'Swayze' movie, but I thought he was good in it.

Let's hope there is a potters' wheel in heaven.

It would be "Ghost" as his best movie...  I remember it's the first movie I ever saw... Even my siblings liked it, we repeatedly watch the whole movie many times. I've also got to view some scenes of Dirty Dancing on YouTube while searching for its theme song... He's a great dance instructor there... Cheesy

Hello Gerard,

I am so sad this actor has died as he must surely be in the next generation of legendary great film stars.

I loved ghost and dirty dancing, for different reasons. The latter for the great music and dancing but ghost for an impressionable story line. And an equally impressionable cast list.

I was thinking of the difficult part he played in Donnie Darko.  Strange to see a nice guy like Swayze playing a closet paedophile.  I would love it if they showed this film again, along with The Outsiders, as part of a tribute season.

Did he have any good movies?
Seriously though, I was never a Swayze fan but I did like Roadhouse from what I recall. But I have not seen that since it was in the theatres.

He was a very good actor and I've enjoyed the films I've seen.  I never saw Donnie Darko so it would be good to see it, they must do a tribute season he has earnt it and has so many fans, it may even convert our Jeffrey  Smiley Wink

I don't actually remember him in Donnie Darko (the whole film is a blur to me now, anyway), but I was surprised when I discovered it on his list of films.

You know what, it's a bit of a toss up for me between Ghost and Dirty Dancing. Both excellent stories, although I love a movie filled with music.

I know Donnie Darko is an acquired taste, but I watched it a couple of times, and it made more sense the second time around.  I love to watch it now, as I think it has one of the most poignant film endings.

Yeah, everybody who talks about the movie speaks highly about it. One day we'll get it out of the video shop again and try it a second time. It's been on TV quite a bit too, hasn't it?
