Beautiful: This is one of those songs that I have heard people try to sing a million times, few so well as Rachel. I thought she was amazing. I'd be surprised if she wasn't in the final.

Take another little piece of my heart: I thought that Sarah did a great job tonight. Her vocals were very strong and I really liked her gutsy performance. I agree with John though, it was missing some edge. I don't see her as a finalist....

I thought Rachel was OTT...sorry!

Sarah does seem a bit too nicey-nice for the part.  She has a lovely voice, though.

You've got to understand - Rachel is a STAGE actress with no or v.little TV experience, can understand how some many think she's being ott but imagine sitting in the back of the gods/cheap seats of the theatre - she could still get to you there, my goodness, her acting was so honest and powerful - made me tear up - she's totally ready for this part - I say final between her and Jessie - and Rachel has the life experience of Nancy... can't wait to see her next performances!! she will win

I like Rachel too.  But I think final will be between her and Jodie.  I think Jesse will be third.  However, the Scottish vote is always very powerful so the red-haired girl (can't remember her name right now) could do better than she should.

We were actually rolling around laughing at rachels performance... im sorry but not even stage actresses have to do that much with a song which has beautiful meaningful lyrics anyway... It was good tv... I dont think it was the best of the night... My faves were actually francesca and jessie.... Although i dont think either of them will win because they aren't that popular... My not nancys are Niamh, Keisha and Sarah... Barry was right-ish... Sarah would be great as Glinda in wizard of oz.. perhaps not wicked cause she's not petite enough for the role but all the same she's not a nancy whatsoever..
Im still backing jodie even though the performance was bland, and talking to people round here they are thinking the same... She looks womanly, worldly and cuddly at teh same time and has a roughness to her... Come on northern lassies! xx

ah think that's a bit cruel nashvilleprincess - Rachel's prob just nervous and trying her hardest cause she wants it so much.

Not cruel lol... just opinionated... and it wasn't just me- it sometimes happens when people overact- it just came accross to us as trying too hard... I like her especially after the video clips too but i didnt like that performance...

Rachel did it well.  She put me in mind of Lee's "Paint It Black" performance with that getting down on the floor and looking up thing she did  Wink

I thought Sarah was excellent but I couldn't see her as Nancy, she does look too sweet and young and I don't know what she could ever do about that.

I agree, Butterscotch.  I think Rachel is a very good actress - she came over very well in the acting they did with Bill Sykes.  I don't see her as over-the-top but find her very watchable.  Sarah is good, but not good enough in my opinion ... and, as you say, just too young.  I think certain people's acting styles can irritate - I always hated Connie Fisher as I found her very ott and she always appeared to be trying too hard.  Other people just love her!!!

Me too, never liked her!  I was a Siobhan fan (but I don't think she could really have played Maria) with Helena for 2nd choice  Wink

I'm glad I'm not the only one who didnt like Connie (how did she win again?)  I deliberately booked to go and see the sound of music on a night when Aoife (who was always my favourite anyway) was performing and not Connie.  I'm so pleased I did, its the best show I've ever seen.
