Apparently David Tennant is considering quitting Doctor Who. According to The Mirror, David has already made a decision about when to leave the show, but hasn't said when exactly that'll be.

Speculation is that he'll leave the show after the forthcoming series, but that wasn't confirmed.

Doctor Who has quickly become one of my favourite shows on TV in the last couple of years. Christopher Eccleston was by far the better Doctor of the two, but I was hoping that Tennant was starting to find his way as The Doctor. Hopefully he'll stick it longer than the next series.

Besides, apparently a Time Lord can only regenerate 12 or 13 times and Tennant is playing the 10th Doctor. Each actor who leaves the role effectively brings it one step closer to the end.....

But I wouldn't worry about that, even death can be cheated by a clever scriptwriter!!!

I think a four year stint would be nice for a doctor. If we took that into consideration and each actor kept to it, and the series continued to remain on the air, we could look forward to another 15 years of Doctor Who!

Not a bad idea. I can understand that it's offputting to be typecast as The Doctor, but since Doctor Who is experiencing such a rebirth at the moment, if I was a producer I'd want a long-term committment to the show.

Certainly if another actor comes to the role of The Doctor, I'd want to make sure they were a serious fan of the show and wanted to make it work in the long term.

Also, they've played it safe with the last two doctors. Ecclestone and Tennant are fine actors, but they've left in too much scope for romantic sub-plots. This might work in the short term, but I don't think we want to see a randy Doctor Who having affairs with every assistant who steps into the Tardis, do we?

Note to Russel Davies: Hire an uglier Doctor next time.

David Tennant is the best Doctor ever, by miles!  Christopher Ecclestone is also miles ahead of anyone else in second place.  Doctor Who bored me when I was a child, but now I love it (and so does my 10 year old nephew).  Tennant is everything that the Doctor should be in my view.  If the actor who played 'The Master' played the Doctor, I think he'd be great as well.

As far as being typecast as the Doctor, well, I'm an actor.  If I was ever picked to be the Doctor, TYPECAST AWAY!!!!!!!

I completely agree Phantom. I loved John Simms (the master) and I think he would make a good doctor.

There are rumours that James Nesbitt (from Jekyll and Cold Feet) may replace David Tennant. I think he would also be a good choice. But David Tennant has really grown on me and I would be sad to see him leave.

I don't want to see David Tennant leave.  I think there's a chance he's just taking a break, hence the gap year in 2009, I reckon they couldn't find anyone to top him, so they decided to take a year off while he does his 'Hamlet' run.  John Simms would be so good as the Doc, though!

How about a spin off during the 2009 gap year? It could feature the Master trapped in his own Tardis or something, they could call it, Is There Life In the Tardis?

Seriously, I was getting the impression the year gap was to keep David Tennant as the Doctor. If that's the case, I'm all for it.

Thanks Trudy, I've been very busy! So have not been able to keep up on any UK reality shows this summer. I'm bummed because I only saw the first few Big Brother episodes. I wish it would be shown on BBC America or some other area, but alas no. Doctor Who is about the only thing I've been able to keep up to date on.

You did not miss anything by not watching Big Brother a lot of people stopped watching it was so bad, me included. The way X-Factor is going unless it drastically improves a lot of people will be turning off as well.

What was the big deal with Big Brother? I hated how it started with all women, and hate even more when they throw more people in later on, but was it something else?

Big Brother US was okay, they had a new twist this year called 'America's Player'. As you know, in the US version the house mates vote people out, but this year' Americas Player' would take suggestions by the American people. We got to tell him who to nominate, who to campaign for, and who to cast his eviction vote for. He was also told to do various other pranks on the house mates. He was instructed to squirt mustard on a house mates shirt (America decided who he had to do that with) He also had to mimic the actions of someone, climb in bed with someone, tell a made up heartbreak story of his childhood, it was great! Of course America decided each time, who he'd do those pranks on. No one ever figured out he was working for America.

That sounds much more fun than ours. This year there were too many different people going in that you lost interest. Also a lot of bullying particularly by a female called Charlie, she was so self centred, she thought the world focused on her, and she was so foul mouthed and argumentative, but she was the producers golden girl and they kept changing rules so she stayed in. I had to stop watching as she was so awful, then by the time she was up for eviction and went with a very large majority I could not be bothered, even in the last week there were still loads of housemates, only bothered to watch eviction night. They need to seriously re-think for next year as viewing figures were really low this year, CBB has been dropped for next year and I think BB should be rested for a year as well.

Tabby! How are you? Yea, I'm doing good, just get caught up in other reality stuff at times. As always, wish reality TV were shown on BBCAmerica, I'd be watching and commenting for sure. It can be a real burden trying to download all the time, especially Big Brother.

So, would anyone be open to having a BB where the contestants CAN talk about nominations and where the house mates do the voting? Just asking.

Jeepers, this is still in Doctor Who thread. I almost forgot about that. Perhaps we can talk more about BB in that thread. You know me, always trying to correct myself.

Back on topic - The next episode is less than three months away. I can hardly wait, but considering how busy everyone is going to be the next few months, (with holiday stuff) I'm sure it'll be here before we know it. I'm just curious if the Doctor will seriously be crossing paths with the Titanic again. I say again, because in the first episode of the new series 'Rose', Cliff (was that his name?) Had a picture of the Doctor (Eccleston) where he said he took their place. Didn't he, or am I imagining that? If so, how neat would it be to see a surprise visit from another Doctor, even if just in passing.
