Well, it's over. The Dream is over. And I needed this. Cause my life su..., well, I shouldn't be ungrateful!, I've got my health (not all of it, mind you), I'm not homeless... But I NEEDED it. No wife, no kids, no girlfriend, (no boyfriend either), no job right now... A handful of friends. 45 years and so little to show for it... And the worst part is I know I COULD DO it! WELL! I had such great ideas.. And like i said before, I'm not re-entering next year. If I was not good enough now, I won't be good enough next year. And we "oldies" look very silly on X Factor... So...Must find a way to pick up my pieces and move on. Anyway, how are you coping?

Just because you did not get in doesn't mean that you were not good, they need an assortment of acts so if they have a lot of one kind and they are all good some good ones will not get through. They may have an idea of what type of act they are looking for and this could change the next year.
Why not try some different competitions for a bit more experience, good luck with whatever you decide.

this does not sound like the "Spacer" I have read on this forum. You cannot be serious, giving up the dream. I am not going to berate you with all the cliches and song lyrics that were written for just this occassion, I know that you already know them all. This old rockstar has more than six decades under his belt, and like you I know that I have the ability to win this competition, or whatever you want to call it. I have waited all my life to be an overnight sensation, is that waited or wasted, who cares. Now then I have already made up my mind to try again next year, but I cant do it by myself. I need a few others with the courage to take this challenge by the scruff of the neck. Spacer I believe you will rise to the challenge. Good luck.

Dear Trudy, Thanks for your kind (always) words and advice and old Rockstar, Thanks too & yes you did kinda catch me on my down curve BUT, WOW! my friend, what a great idea! form a super group of BGT ex-auditionees and go for it next year! Let everyone, everywhere know that this is an old Rockstar original idea (don't anybody else try to steal it now, we have it copyrighted with this message!) and I like it! But i have to tell you, in this supergroup, all i could do is sing...or play the tambourine , cause I'm not really the musician type.

It's sad to see that Spacer is on a downer and I just want you to know Spacer that I know exactly how you feel and that you are not on your own. I am in my fifties and have had so many knock backs in my life but I still come back and try again, yes spacer we all need that lucky break. I knew that the odds of winning the lottery this weekend were very, very low but I still put a line on. My advice to you and everyone in our position is to analyse this years BGT and look back at the other past BGT series and then try to mould yourself and your act into what you think they want, try filming your performance and criticise yourself constructively if you find nothing wrong then study the acts that get through see what talent they have or don't have. go on give it another shot, you have nothing to lose.
I did a birthday gig last night and had people laughing and singing along with me, so I know that I have something to give and I just need a little exposure to get to a larger audience, it might never come but I am sure gonna give it a try until I die. So come on Spacer and anyone else who feels like giving up and walking away from the fight. Pick yourselves up and start practicing and rehearsing for the 2011 BGT auditions. Good luck everyone.
Henry

My husbands left me. Im a single mum to two hormonal teenagers. I got depression and had to have time off work. My dream family christmas got cancelled due to weather. My boiler broke down. I had a cancer scare. I had surgery. Now I find my kids have been leading a double life because my ex told them not to tell me about his new girlfriend and her 3 children and 1 grandchild so they have been off to their houses. Oh, and I didnt get a second audition .... whooop-de-dooo. See you next year.

madbusybee, not a lot of good happening in your life at the moment then Your children were proberly in a very awkward position and didn't want to upset you. Look at it another way your life is so bad at the moment that the only way for you now is UP, say s*d it to the past as you can't change that and focus on your future that you can change. Wishing you better health and happiness and may your future be bright, put yourself first, grab opportunitites and live life to the full.

Yes I have several ukulele's and I really can't understand why the wife hasn't left me? Tell me the song, give me the key and let's rock'n'roll or should I say Fox'n'Trot. "Some Like It Hot?" I hope that you are not suggesting that I dress up like Marylin Munro? Good to hear that you are getting your chin up. Ukulele Henry.

Thanks for all the nice comments - gee was I in a bad way that day! I appreciate all the support you have given me. I've done a few solos since then in church which went well, but showed me how nervous I get performing, so I would not have coped well with the show this year even if I had got through ... but next? Who knows! Still in quite a bit of pain after the surgery as it aggravated my already sensitive ciatic (sic?) nerve.
I laugh and joke about my pain - so my therapist tells me - so hope I didnt offend anyone with making light of it. Its my coping mechanism and isnt intended to belittle anyone elses experiences.
Good luck to all those who are through - and well done to those who didnt!! xx
