Hi guys

What I think we really need to know is how different BGT is from the X factor pre-auditions.

Like, the VERY FIRST audition in front of the producers - do you get to sing with a backing track? Is it in a private room? Or is it like the 02Arena singing booths for X factors open auditions?

I'd really like to know that...if anyone knows...?

Thank you soooooooooooooooo much.
Good luck everyone!

(And sorry for multi-posting or whatever we call it, I just really want to find the person with the answer to this!!!) Grin

Hi, Sandi B

The BGT pre-auditions take place in a private room. There will be someone with a camera filming the audition, plus a judge (who is a producer, not a celeb judge) and that's it. You are allowed to use a backing track if you're singing, and I think you're allowed 2 minutes, although they might stop you before that or let you sing longer. You don't get a yes or no right away like the X Factor pre-auditions - you have to wait for a letter or phonecall.

Hope this helps and very best of luck.

Oh thank you very much, that does help!

I guess it's just like skipping the open audition round and call backs at X Factor and going straight onto the third round, recorded in front of the producers and then waiting to find out! It's sort of better than X Factor then....

Cheers, much appreciated! xxx

Yes, that's exactly it. The X Factor used to be done this way too, before the Stadium Audition format was introduced two years back. It's much better this way, because you're inside for starters, and when you get your letter with your first audition date, you're given a timeslot meaning that rather than hanging around all day, you're only there for a couple of hours max.

Chill - last year the auditions didn't start til October - I don't think anyone's even had a letter yet - I certainly haven't had mine. Think people are just wanting to plan ahead/beprepared which is always a good idea.

Well I did think about buying my easter eggs next week!!!!!!!!!! What am I saying I rarely buy Easter eggs.

Joking aside I think with X factor and BGT they start everything off so they are prepared to start the main auditions as soon as the other series has finished, which I suppose with something as big as BGT and X factor and the same teams running it they have to do that.

As seeing as it's run by the same team, I just hope they give me a chance to audition for BGT after I've already done XF. Might apply as a group as well as a soloist to give myself the best chance...would rather be a soloist!

Is it generally the rule that everyone who applies online gets a chance to audition or do you think they get selective? Going by your past experience?

I think they're going to be very selective with singers this time round as I bet loads of singers are going to apply after what happened to Susan Boyle! Damn...I'm a singer...but not just a normal style, something different (cos it wouldn't be that interesting for BGT otherwise would it??!)
Even though, yes I'm a singer, I actually dont think they should have singers on BGT, cos then it just turns into XF! They need more comedians this next series...and actors...!!

BGT don't care if you've already applied for the X Factor if you haven't gotten through the auditions - I'm sure people do it all the time.

I think, like the X Factor you can apply as both a group and a soloist, so go for it.

As far as online applications go, I think they do try to give everyone an audition, but they have so many letters to send out that some go missing and if they get too many applications then it's probably first come, first served. I have been to BGT twice before and have never not gotten an audition.

And you're right - it's always tougher for singers on BGT - it's a variety show, not a singing show - and they don't want it to turn out like another X Factor. Still, if you are a good singer, you have as much chance as anyone else and if they turn you down, it's probably not because they think you're crap but because they just don't want too many singers.
