When do you think they release the information? When possibly would the auditions be?

Hey guys,
You can always count on me for up to date theatrical auditions news! I have my eyes on pages all the time... So here is the official release about BBC and The Really Useful Group commissioning 'The Wizard Of Oz' for early 2010.
The show will be looking for Dorothy ( i would hazard a guess they'll be gunning 17-25, the last dorothy was played by a rather older looking Sian Brooke though!) and Toto.

Good luck to anyone who's thinking of going for this- i know i am! Dog and all! haha xx

Heya, defiantaely one for me i think!  Smiley I think it defiantely is a BBC-Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber collaboration, there was an article on it from The Stage:

''Andrew Lloyd Webber is once again taking part in the BBC show, following on from the success of How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? And Any Dream Will Do.

He will produce the West End staging of The Wizard of Oz.

The BBC1 show, called The Wizard of Oz, will be hosted by Graham Norton.

As well as looking for a female lead, the programme will also search for a Toto, Dorothy’s dog''

Sounds exciting!  Cheesy Gemma x x

totally already applied for this, was watching, waiting- much to the dismay of my fellow classmates... There's a certain snobbery about reality tv shows when you get to uni apparently... Pfft... I think go for it if it comes your way! zz

Katie has applied today finally managed to do it, she has been going to do it since the thing opened.

Nash are you allowed to audition for this sort of thing I know with some of the stage schools you can't audition for these sort of things I thought universities were the same. Glad that you are auditioning, you as well Emma

Yeah the university is quite open to us auditioning- think they kinda want to raise their profile... I just found out today that we are connected to Mountview in regards to the course and it's marking which was a shock considering the fees etc... But the course content is similar, just less classes... This made me feel rather good!;-)  I don't think it's reasonable for a 'university based drama course' to expect their students not to audition for opportunities as we are simply not faced with the same 'platform' as drama school graduates at the end of the 3 years, the likelihood is if anyone from our course wants to be in the west end for example, we will have to undergo an MA at an accreditted school... So skipping a few years and doing a stint on a tv show is quite attractive lol
With the stage schools, you will find alot will allow your progression if say you do happen to get through to a reputable show casting- i know with spring awakening there were alot of auditionees who were first/second year drama school students, initially applying on the sly...Of course if they did get through to the workshops etc they would have to confess! Probabbly alot different with a tv show though, i know if i was somewhere like gsa i wouldn't want to jeapordise my place on the course for a show! xx

Ah it's not unfair- it's simply the law when it comes to performing. The winner of the show will be expected to be able to perform and contracted to initially for 8 shows a week= full time work. When it comes to young performers there is a set limit of about 3 or 4 shows a week maximum (hence the younger performers in the likes of oliver! share the role between 3 children), they still have to continue their studies until leaving age. Therefore, opening such a show to a wider age range would be pointless as there would have to be 3 winners...
You're time will come- stop wishing your life away!! xx
